Implicit Bias: What We Don’t Think We Think

A 3-Week Series with Sarah McCain, WEUMC Congregational Care Intern
Wednesdays, June 30, July 7, and July 14 at 5:30 PM

Each of us has our own lens through which we see the world. These ways of seeing the world are shaped in part by a variety of unique cultural influences. Sometimes we carry biases and prejudices that we do not easily recognize or acknowledge without careful self-work and attention. Are you interested in exploring implicit bias and ways to recognize, question and transform it in yourself and in the world? Join us on Wednesdays (June 30th, July 7th, and July 14th) at 5:30 p.m. as Sarah McCain helps us dive into the UMC’s GCORR (General Commission on Religion and Race) implicit bias training program and discuss how ‘what we don’t think we think’ may be hindering our efforts to work towards equity and justice effectively.

This series will include hybrid options. You will receive a Zoom link when you register, but after registration has closed, Sarah will contact everyone to discuss preferred meeting method including in-person, hybrid, and/or completely virtual.

For questions about the training, email Sarah McCain smccain@westendumc.org for more information.
