Social Distancing

Speakers:Carol Cavin-Dillon
Topics:Children's moment, Lent, Sermon, Sunday service

We continue our series on the Sermon on the Mount with a passage in which Jesus bids us not to judge.  This comes at a time when we are experiencing a rampant virus among us and are practicing “social distancing,” trying to stay away from each other to prevent contagion.  Is judging another person a type of social distancing?  Jesus is telling us not to judge.  And aren’t there times when we need to judge a person to protect ourselves from danger or falling into a trap?  (NOTE: We usually post the 11 o’clock service, but with the COVID-19 threat we are having only the 8:45 service today, with no one in the congregation, so that is the service we are posting.  NOTE:  Although the video begins with the Children’s Moment, once it starts you can scroll back to the beginning of the service if you want.  The video of the entire service is available to watch.)  For the opening and closing hymns, you may copy the following links and paste them into your browser:  Processional Hymn:  https://hymnary.org/hymn/UMH/page/57         Recessional Hymn: https://hymnary.org/hymn/UMH/402
